Moonrain

A co-op survival-crafting game set in a nearly empty fantasy world.

Made so far

Fox, a model from the game.
Described as a fox with orange fur

These are the game’s own models, not pictures of them. Drag one to turn it.

I built my own tools to make Moonrain’s art, using AI models that run on my own computer. I describe a thing in a sentence. It comes back as a realistically textured or hand-painted surface, which is posterized down to a fixed number of colours from the Moonrain palettes, then pixelized at about 64 pixels per metre.

  1. A drawing of a fox on a plain grey background.

    The sentence becomes a drawing.

  2. The fox as an unpainted grey 3D model.

    The drawing becomes a shape.

  3. The fox model with a smooth painted surface.

    The shape gets its surface.

  4. The fox model in flat blocks of colour with visible square pixels.

The surface is cut down to the palette and pixelated.

The world

In a nearly empty fantasy world, a handful of independent survivors contend with dangerous former people.

You survive, build, gather and fight, and discover goddess statues, silent sanctuaries and powers that require sacrifice. Nobody explains it to you. The history is there to be worked out from what you can see.

Who is making it

It’s my dream game: a big mix of everything I’d like in my own game from playing over the years, inspired by Elder Scrolls, Valheim, Enshrouded and others. I’m still working on what the game really is, and this page will grow as I build it.
